GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Obesa Nursery, a wholesale cacti nursery, is a huge maze of towering cacti and succulents located in Graaff-Reinet.

The nursery is the private collection of the owner and cactus enthusiast, Anton, who is willing to give you a tour of the garden if you book in advance.

Owner Anton Bouwer founded Obesa nursery 35 years ago. It began as a hobby and passion and grew into one of the biggest privately owned Cacti and Succulent nurseries in the world today.

Obesa nursery has established itself on 10 hectares of land and as the Karoo climate being similar in nature to the plants' native origins, Graaff-Reinet is the perfect place for their propagation.

Obesa currently houses about 7 000 species of plants and raise about 350 000 plants each year - their stock plants exceed 2 million.
